How to Add a Slot Feature to Dialog Engine

Slot is a feature that allows you to assign the dimensions to standard slots. You can either select the slot dimension values from a table, or compute them using a formula. The slot dimension values that you select or compute are used to display the corresponding standard slots in the dialog box. The Slot Table is a view that displays the standard slot dimensions and their attributes.

In a slot machine, players insert cash or, in “ticket-in, ticket-out” machines, paper tickets with barcodes, into a designated slot on the machine to activate it and start spinning reels. When a winning combination of symbols lines up on the pay line, the player earns credits based on a predetermined payout percentage set by the manufacturer. Some slot machines also have extra features such as a wild symbol that substitutes for other symbols.

You can add synonyms to a slot type so that Dialog Engine recognizes multiple words and phrases for each one. Select the Allow Synonyms checkbox to enable this feature. To add a synonym, click the field next to a slot type value and enter an alternate name in the field that appears.

A slot is a time or space in which something can be placed, such as a job opening or an appointment. A vacancy is a vacant slot, as in the job of chief copy editor. A slot is a position, as in the job of a slot editor at a newspaper.
